Inheritance study on jassid (Amrasca biguttula biguttula) tolerance in F2 population of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

چکیده

India is one of the largest producers cotton in world, but productivity comparatively low. One major factors limiting pest infestation. Earlier production was inhibited by boll worms which now coped up with Bt sucking infestation still a prime concern. This study conducted F2 population four upland crosses- TVH002 x RAHC1039, TCH1894 NDLH32, CO17 KC2 and KC3, were evaluated for inheritance pattern jassid tolerance. Three crosses segregated 3:1ratio (Resistant, susceptible) fourth cross 13:3 ratio susceptible), showing digenic interaction. Further molecular investigation essential to confirm this progress work direction.

Status of Insecticide Resistance in Leafhopper, Amrasca Biguttula Biguttula (ishida) on Cotton

Cotton is one of the most important cash crops of India. It is grown for its lint and seed. In India, cotton was cultivated on an area of 11.70 million ha with a production of 29.00 million bales of seed cotton during 2013-14. Average productivity of cotton in India is 540 kg lint per ha, which is low when compared to world average of 766 kg lint per ha (AICCIP, 2013-14). The major limiting fac...

Selection of housekeeping genes and demonstration of RNAi in cotton leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida)

Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) commonly known as cotton leafhopper is a severe pest of cotton and okra. Not much is known on this insect at molecular level due to lack of genomic and transcriptomic data. To prepare for functional genomic studies in this insect, we evaluated 15 common housekeeping genes (Tub, B-Tub, EF alpha, GADPH, UbiCF, RP13, Ubiq, G3PD, VATPase, Actin, 18s, 28s, TATA, ...

QTL analysis for early-maturing traits in cotton using two upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) crosses

Making use of the markers linked closely to QTL for early-maturing traits for MAS (Marker-assisted selection) is an effective method for the simultaneous improvement of early maturity and other properties in cotton. In this study, two F2 populations and their F2:3 families were generated from the two upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) crosses, Baimian2 × TM-1 and Baimian2 × CIR12. QTL for ea...

In Vitro Cadmium-Induced Alterations in Growth and Oxidative Metabolism of Upland Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic pollutant, which cause both dose- and time-dependent physiological and biochemical alterations in plants. The present in vitro study was undertaken to explore Cd-induced physiological and biochemical changes in cotton callus culture at 0, 550, 700, 850, and 1000 μM Cd for four different stress periods (7, 14, 21, and 28 days). At 1000 μM Cd, mean growth values were lower...

Na+ compartmentalization related to salinity stress tolerance in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) seedlings

The capacity for ion compartmentalization among different tissues and cells is the key mechanism regulating salt tolerance in plants. In this study, we investigated the ion compartmentalization capacity of two upland cotton genotypes with different salt tolerances under salt shock at the tissue, cell and molecular levels. We found that the leaf glandular trichome could secrete more salt ions in...
